Job Description

The Payroll Manager will oversee and supervise the organizations payroll functions, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations.

  • Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
  • Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
  • Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
  • Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.
  • Manage benefit/withholding programs (employee and employer deductions).
  • Manage Kronos timekeeping system including training and communication.  Responsible for all Kronos changes and updates.
  • Manage fiscal and calendar year processing including W-2 reconciliation and preparation, as well as, new reporting requirements of the Affordable Care Act.
  • Manages general ledger account maintenance including payment of various benefit invoices and all reporting of expenses to the departments through the Business Intelligence link.
  • Function as liaison with all software providers and troubleshooting of issues that arise with new systems.
  • Serves as payroll representative on MUSC Health committees/projects.
  • Other special projects and duties as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Additional Job Description

Education: Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Work Experience: 7 years progressive work experience and 2 years management experience
