Job Description Summary

The Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences, Sleep, Mood, Anxiety Research & Treatment (SMART) Division is seeking a part time Sleep Technologist III. Performs Noctural Polysomnograms, Multiple Sleep Latency studies and CPAP titrations, through the use of specialized equipment, on customers ranging in age from infant to the aged. Assumes responsibility and accountability for patients in the department and provides care to these patients through assessment, observation and documentation. Performs other related duties incidental to the work described within. Work is primarily independent.

Job Description

FLSA: Hourly

Schedule: 12 hours per week; Rotating shifts; Eligible to work overtime and nights if needed.

Patient Population Age Range: 0-Death

Required Minimum Training, Education and Skills:  High school diploma/GED required. Previous Polysomnogram experience is required. Must possess communication/writing/interpersonal skills.

Degree of Supervision: Minimal Supervision.

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Current BLS or obtained during introductory period. Must be enrolled in ASTEP program with completion and successful registry completed in twelve months.

Preferred Training and Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent and 4-6 years of prior work experience.

Job Duties:

  • 25% - Performs Noctural Polysomnograms, Multiple Sleep Latency studies and CPAP titrations, through the use of specialized equipment, on customers ranging in age from infant to the aged

(Continuous) Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements. (Continuous) Ability to work in a latex free environment. (Continuous) Ability to work rotating shifts/weekends. (Frequent) May be required to obtain and maintain forklift operator certification. (Infrequent) May be required to operate recycling packer. (Infrequent) Ability to use hand/pallet jacks. (Frequent) May be required to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license. (Infrequent).

Additional Job Description

Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or GED and a minimum of 6 years of experience working with sleep patients. State Licensure and/or professional certification requirements may be required depending on the position. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
