Required Education and Experience:
MUSC offers a career ladder with pay based on experience and certification obtained:
Non-Certified Sterile Processing Technician – High school diploma or GED
Sterile Processing Technician I – High school diploma or GED, and certification through CRCST - HSPA (Healthcare Sterile Processing Association) or CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution)
Sterile Processing Technician II - High school diploma or GED, and certification through CRCST - HSPA (Healthcare Sterile Processing Association) or CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution). At least twelve (12) months experience in sterile processing required for this role
Sterile Processing Technician III - High school diploma or GED, and certification through CRCST - HSPA (Healthcare Sterile Processing Association) or CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution). At least two (2) years of experience in sterile processing required for this role
No certification? No problem! MUSC offers a certification incentive and bonus program that will help pay for your certification as well as a provide a bonus after you achieve your certification.
MUSC also offers an intensive 12-week training program for those new to our team. This includes a rotation between site-work and a designated training location, with training schedules rotating between varying schedules on site and 7:00am – 3:30pm at the training location.
Preferred Requirements:
Completion of a Sterile Processing or Surgical Technologist program
Basic computer skills and use of an EMR system
Knowledge of instrumentation
Strong customer service and communication skills
Shift Information:
Shifts are offered on varying schedules based on the needs of each area:
First shift – 7:00am – 3:30pm
Second shift – 3:00pm – 11:30pm
Third shift – 11:00pm – 7:30am
Weekend shifts – 7:00am – 7:00pm, or 7:00pm – 7:00am
Holiday and emergency management or disaster work is required. Weekend rotation may be required.
