Job Description

Processes patient demographic and insurance data for registration in an outpatient clinic; enters information in the hospital computer system; maintains quality control for each appointment in an outpatient setting to insure accuracy of information; acts as liaison between patients, financial counselors and hospital patient accounting and 4 clinical areas; insures that all state, federal and MUSC policies and procedures are followed. Within this role you will retrieve and send medical records needed for clinic visits and outgoing referrals. Process incoming referrals. Upload medical records. Obtaining prior authorizations when needed. Charge capture for outpatient appointments. Administrative/scheduling coordinators for 8 physicians assuring patients are getting set up in a timely manner to receive appropriate care. Patient facing and receiving calls on multiple phone lines. Functions within Patient Access in the Ambulatory Department at MUSC.

Additional Job Description

High school diploma or equivalent (GED), with 1 year of customer service experience. Ability to interpret and apply financial procedures and regulations preferred. Previous experience with hospital information systems or word processing preferred.
