Job Description Summary
The primary responsibility of the Pharmacoeconomic Pharmacy Clinical Specialist is to direct and organize programs that identify, measure, and evaluate the cost and consequences of drug therapy to the health care system. The use of pharmacoeconomic analyses will be the primary tool to develop strategies including cost-minimization, cost-benefit, cost-effectiveness, cost-utility analyses, and drug-related adverse outcome avoidance. The goal of these analyses will compare various treatment options in terms of cost and patient outcomes. The Pharmacoeconomic Pharmacy Clinical Specialist will work collaboratively and integratively with the Pharmacy Integrated Center of Clinical Excellence (ICCE) and Population Health to optimize the use of medications in high-cost and high-volume care settings to include use, prescription, and dispensation in the inpatient, outpatient, infusion, and retail settings.Entity

Job Description

The Pharmacoeconomic Pharmacy Clinical Specialist will work collaboratively and integratively with the Pharmacy Integrated Center of Clinical Excellence (ICCE) and Population Health to optimize the use of medications in high-cost and high-volume care settings to include use, prescription, and dispensation in the inpatient, outpatient, infusion, and retail settings.
The ideal candidate will have experience evaluating medications in terms of their safety, efficacy, and cost effectiveness for inclusion on a formulary in both the hospital and outpatient settings, should understand 340b rules and regulations, and should be aware of changes to pharmacy pricing policies. S/he should be self-driven to identify medications for evaluation based on cost and utilization metrics, engaging key stakeholders in the evaluation of the various therapies, and proactive about creating operational workflows to support the use of the most preferred therapies.
