This pharmacy specialist will work primarily as part of an interdisciplinary team in a Level 4 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Pharmacy specialists are responsible for medication optimization, profile review, therapeutic drug monitoring, clinical monitoring and participation in a clinical on call program, medication stewardship, medication safety initiatives, teaching and precepting, and otherwise supporting the mission, vision and values of MUSC.Entity

Job Description
1. Purpose: The Clinical Specialists provides distributive and clinical pharmacy services to the inpatients and outpatients of the Medical University Hospitals and clinics.
2. Requirements:
a. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (Include physical and mental demands of the position-attach demands checklist if necessary:
i. The position of Clinical Pharmacy Specialist requires a doctoral degree in Pharmacy from an ACPE Accredited School of Pharmacy.
ii. Completion of a clinical pharmacy residency program: Two years of clinical or hospital pharmacy experience may substitute for the clinical pharmacy residency program.
b. LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS (If applicable to position):
i. SC Pharmacist License (or eligible for SC Pharmacist License)
ii. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification: Must be BLS Certified within three months of hire date and maintain certification throughout employment.
3. Physical Requirements

Minimum Training and Education: Doctor of Pharmacy or a Bachelor's degree in pharmacy. Completion of a pharmacy residency preferred. Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Licensed as a Registered Pharmacist by the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
