Job Description

Job Summary: 
Evaluates, administers, and directs therapeutic procedures to patients recovering from injury, disease, surgery, or other ailments as deemed appropriate for the patient’s plan of care.  Establishes goals of physical therapy, reassesses patient progress at regular, timely intervals, and supports findings with appropriate documentation.  This job classification is required to care for patients of all ages.  May direct support staff in assisting with treatment. 

Clinical Knowledge and Skills: 

Evaluation and Assessment: 

Conducts initial patient evaluations with supervision, accurately assessing physical abilities, and understanding injury mechanisms. 

Begins to identify treatment goals based on standardized assessment tools. 

Therapeutic Procedures: 

Administers basic therapeutic procedures under supervision and in accordance with the plan of care. 

Develops familiarity with various treatment modalities and their appropriate applications. 

Patient Documentation: 

Completes documentation in patient records, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. 

Assists in developing care plans, updating as appropriate. 

Interdisciplinary Collaboration: 

Works closely with other therapists and the multidisciplinary care team to ensure coordinated care. 

Additional Job Description

Education: Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapy program, less than one year experience as a physical therapist, and licensure as a Physical Therapist by the South Carolina Board of Physical Therapy Examiners. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
