Job Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Quality Oversight & Performance Improvement
Provide direct support to local laboratories in the oversight of quality monitoring, variance tracking, corrective action development, and performance improvement activities.
Review and validate daily, weekly, and monthly quality indicators, audits, and regulatory tasks in collaboration with Laboratory Managers.
Monitor trends in quality metrics and assist with root cause analysis, preventive action development, and effectiveness monitoring.
Compile and distribute monthly quality and operational reports for assigned laboratory sites.
Operational & Technical Support
Support Laboratory Managers with daily operational activities including workflow optimization, staffing alignment, and prioritization of work queues.
Assist Technical Specialists with management and standardization of technical processes within assigned laboratory sections.
Promote consistent implementation of best practices across laboratory locations.
Provide project management support for division initiatives including IQE entry and tracking.
Regulatory Compliance & Survey Readiness
Participate in accreditation readiness activities including audits, tracers, documentation review, and corrective action follow-up.
Support CAP, CLIA, Joint Commission, and DNV compliance initiatives.
Maintain oversight of document control processes.
Ensure alignment of laboratory practices with regulatory standards.
Education, Training & Competency
Deliver technical and quality education sessions aligned with division priorities.
Support competency assessment tracking and documentation.
Train staff in quality assurance principles and error prevention strategies.
Safety & Risk Management
Serve as the Division Safety Officer supporting safety audits and corrective actions.
Promote a culture of safety and high reliability.
Collaboration & Leadership
Partner with the Division Quality Coordinator on division quality initiatives.
Act as a resource for Laboratory Managers and Technical Specialists.
Education and Experience Requirements
Required: Associate or Bachelor degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field; MLS or MLT certification; 3–5 years laboratory experience; working knowledge of CAP and CLIA.
Preferred: Prior leadership or quality role experience; electronic QMS experience; Lean or Six Sigma exposure.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong regulatory knowledge, organizational skills, communication ability, analytical thinking, and multi-site workflow management.
Physical Requirements
Ability to work in laboratory environment and travel between sites.
