Job Description Summary
The Nursing Supervisor reports to the Director of Nursing Operations and is the designated leader for nursing units during after hours, holidays and weekends. He/She is responsible for assisting the directors/managers with staffing the nursing units, reassigning staff, call-in/call-off, problems involving staff and/or patients, bed assignments, logs and administrative reports, and administrative representative during after-hours and weekends. Assumes authority for all nursing services in absence of the CNO, DNO or Directors/Managers. The Nurse Manager plans, organizes, directs, coordinates, and evaluates the unit activities. He/She provides assistance, direction, support and guidance to the charge nurses and nursing staff as needed.Entity

Job Description
First level management. Typically supervises one or more areas of a department. Supervises two or more professional and or support staff at work as well as their day-to-day activities. Typically, does not have the authority to hire, fire, or promote but their input on these types of actions is highly considered. Main focus is on each employee they manage. May coordinate the business aspects of a department to include but not limited to strategy, project management, budget planning and oversight and financial operations.

Additional Job Description
Education:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
BS’s degree in nursing preferred.
Experience:
Desirable characteristics include a minimum five years clinical experience in clinical field. Working knowledge of staff nurse responsibilities in ICU, ED, Medical/Surgical, OR, Outpatient Services, PACU, Labor and Delivery and Nursery. Evidence of excellent interpersonal skills, experience in quality improvement, self-directed, excellent time management and problem-solving skills. Must be emotionally mature and able to function effectively under stress.
