The MUSC Transplant Team is seeking a dedicated and experienced Kidney Transplant RN Coordinator to join our multidisciplinary team. This critical role provides coordination of care for kidney transplant patients throughout the continuum – from pre-transplant evaluation, listing, and education through post-transplant follow-up. Job Description
Coordinate all phases of the kidney transplant process, including evaluation, listing, waitlist management, transplantation, and post-operative care.
Act as a liaison between patients, families, and the transplant team to ensure seamless, compassionate, and timely care.
Perform nursing assessments and facilitate diagnostic testing, patient education, and referrals as needed.
Monitor patient status and laboratory values, ensuring compliance with transplant protocols and regulatory guidelines.
Maintain accurate and complete documentation in accordance with CMS, OPTN, and hospital policies.
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
Required:
Current RN license in South Carolina
BSN
Minimum 3 years of clinical nursing experience, with at least 1 year in transplant, critical care, nephrology, or related field preferred.
BLS certification.
Preferred:
Experience in solid organ transplant coordination.
CCTC (Certified Clinical Transplant Coordinator) or willingness to obtain within 2 years.
Knowledge of CMS/UNOS regulations and transplant eligibility criteria.
Additional Job Description
Bachelor’s degree in nursing required and three years related nursing experience. Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Some positions require certification as a generalist in a related specialty area by the American Nurses Association (ANA).
