Job Description Summary

MUSC Health is transforming Supply Chain into an enterprise strategic business function. This role exists to serve as a trusted executive advisor who helps business leaders shape strategy, evaluate markets, optimize commercial models, and build supplier partnerships that accelerate organizational priorities across Information Services, helping craft and execute technology strategies through responsible procurement, market surveillance, supplier innovation, and sophisticated commercial negotiations.

Required Qualifications
•    Bachelor's degree required; graduate degree preferred.
•    12+ years strategic sourcing experience with significant professional services procurement.
•    7+ years leadership experience.
•    Experience managing complex enterprise negotiations.
•    Large Healthcare Setting or Fortune 500 procurement leadership.

Strategic Business Partnership

  • Serve as the principal commercial advisor to the Chief Information Officer and direct reports, translating enterprise technology priorities into executable sourcing, supplier, and commercial strategies.

  • Participate in strategic planning, portfolio reviews, and investment discussions before procurement activities begin to influence technology roadmaps and acquisition strategies.

  • Develop multi-year category strategies that balance innovation, cybersecurity, operational resiliency, and total cost of ownership.

Technology Strategy & Market Intelligence

  • Continuously monitor software, cloud, AI, cybersecurity, infrastructure, digital health, and telecommunications markets for emerging capabilities and supplier innovation.

  • Benchmark MUSC Health against leading academic medical centers and integrated delivery networks to identify modernization and optimization opportunities.

  • Provide executive leaders with actionable market intelligence, supplier assessments, pricing trends, and commercial recommendations.

Commercial Strategy Development

  • Develop sourcing strategies supporting ERP optimization, cloud transformation, cybersecurity modernization, AI enablement, enterprise infrastructure, and managed services.

  • Evaluate enterprise agreements, strategic partnerships, cooperative purchasing, competitive sourcing, and outcome-based commercial models.

  • Lead negotiations that optimize enterprise value through commercial flexibility, implementation support, performance guarantees, and measurable value realization.

Supplier Ecosystem & Governance

  • Develop a best-in-class enterprise technology supplier ecosystem that advances innovation and long-term strategic partnerships.

  • Lead executive business reviews, innovation councils, supplier scorecards, and governance forums focused on continuous improvement.

Value Optimization

  • Apply total cost of ownership methodologies, value engineering, and lifecycle cost analysis to technology investments.

  • Challenge licensing models, implementation strategies, and service delivery approaches to improve financial and operational performance.

Executive Expectations

  • Shape business strategy before sourcing events begin.

  • Bring external market intelligence and benchmarking into executive decision making.

  • Challenge conventional approaches through data, commercial insight, and supplier innovation.

  • Develop long-term category strategies rather than execute transactional procurements.

  • Build executive-level supplier relationships that create measurable enterprise value.

  • Measure success through business outcomes, transformation, and value realization—not negotiated savings alone.
