The Surgical Services Scheduler is responsible for coordinating all activities related to the scheduling of surgical procedures within the peri-operative environment. Working under the general supervision of the OR Nurse Manager, the scheduler collaborates closely with physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure efficient and accurate surgical scheduling that supports optimal patient outcomes.
Schedule and coordinate surgical procedures in accordance with physician orders and facility guidelines.
Communicate with physicians’ offices, operating room staff, anesthesia, and pre-op/post-op teams to confirm availability and readiness.
Ensure proper documentation is received prior to procedures, including pre-operative assessments and patient consent.
Verify patient demographics, insurance information, and medical history as related to scheduling.
Maintain accurate and updated surgery schedule; make adjustments as necessary based on changes in clinical or operational needs.
Utilize hospital scheduling systems and electronic medical records to manage workflow.
Provide exceptional customer service to patients, families, and all members of the healthcare team.
Maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA standards.
Experience: Considerable knowledge and skill in the application of the techniques and practices of OR Scheduling. Considerable knowledge of complex medical terminology and advanced disease processes is preferred.

Education: High school diploma or GED is required.
