Job Description Summary

The College of Medicine Communications Coordinator will be responsible for supporting communications for specific college departments and divisions in a variety of areas – web, digital communications, social media, and other areas. This position will report to the college’s Director of Communications and work collaboratively with internal clients to execute on a wide range of communications tactics and platforms. This communications professional is able to balance multiple and changing priorities, build trust with internal clients, and partner effectively with colleagues. A background in managing web content, digital communications, and social media platforms is desired. While occasional remote work may be possible, this position is expected to be in-person/on campus.

Job Description

25% Web content updates – Reviews and performs updates to identified College of Medicine department and division web pages to maintain timely and accurate information with attention to SEO and design. Ensures consistency and compliance with MUSC brand and web guidelines and seeks to optimize content for search engines in support of COM and department web objectives.

25% COM departmental web page oversight and management - The coordinator will conduct regular reviews of specified COM department web pages and work with teams to enhance their web presence by ensuring optimal organization and utilizing newly available design components and photography to elevate the appearance of pages.

10% Newsletter development – Works with COM department and division teams to produce newsletters and other communication vehicles as desired.  This may include attendance at departmental events and activities to support these efforts.

 

15% Social media - In coordination with specific departments, this position will work with stakeholders to oversee the departmental social media presence using relevant applications and digital platforms to create and manage content across departments’ social media channels. Creates visually appealing content in order to regularly engage and grow the external and internal audiences of the departments.

10% Visual communications – Uses digital design templates to assist in content creation for various print and digital channels, including email, digital and print signage, social media, video, and flyers. Working with the college’s communications team, serves as a brand ambassador, guiding internal stakeholders to comply with MUSC brand standards and complete the approval process for branded materials.

10% Dean’s Office Communications team support – This position will work collaboratively as part of the COM Dean’s Office communications team and cross-support responsibilities as needed.

5% Other duties - as assigned.
