The DCU is looking for a database administrator who can work with the Unit’s Information Systems team to develop and maintain the Unit’s clinical trials management system referred to as WebDCU™. This includes playing a lead role in the web-based information management application validation and documentation, working with the study teams (clients) to ensure users’ needs are met, and participating in the development, maintenance, and upgrade of the Unit’s clinical trials management software. This WebDCU™ system supports all project and data management activities of the clinical trials managed by the DCU.
Job Duties:
1. 20% Programs, tests, and validates WebDCU databases prior to project implementation including functionality for site management, electronic data collection, regulatory document management, study supply management, outcome adjudication, safety monitoring, and reporting.
2. 20% Provides ongoing IS support for assigned projects during the study and implements, tests, and validates database changes requested due to project specification changes or identification of errors.
3. 20% Works with DCU leadership to create/optimize new/existing database system modules to meet the needs of DCU projects. Collaborates with management and assigned study teams to determine the software requirements and project specifications for DCU’s clinical management system, WebDCU. This includes determining optimal database design to meet the needs of the project while working within database system constraints.
4. 15% Drafts, finalizes, and maintains technical documentation for implemented software functionality using DCU IS section standards. Assists in SOP development.
5. 10% Manage project study supply label development including label specifications, programming, testing and printing.
6. 10% Assists in project-specific clinical trial randomization implementation and validation including randomization simulation, programming, testing, and documentation.
7. 5% Participates in strategic planning and hiring of new IS personnel.
Additional Job Description
Minimum Requirements: A bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems or a related field and three (3) years experience in systems development and maintenance, technical support or the support of complex database management systems.
