Job Description
Job Duties:
20% - Triages patients and prepares for physician and/or Advanced Practice Provider exams and procedures. Assists with exam, procedures and treatments as necessary. Instructs patients in collection of samples and tests. Administers prescribed treatments and tests as ordered by the physician/ or Advanced Practice Provider.
20% - Observes, records and reports patient’s physical and psychosocial condition, reactions to medication and treatments to physician/ or Advanced Practice Provider. Responds to and triages phone calls and inbox messages. Call in orders appropriately as ordered by physician. Instructs patient as ordered by the physician regarding treatment and/or medication. Responsible for monitoring and distribution of medication including samples and controlled substances.
20% - Maintains timely flow of patient, assists with scheduling of appointments and referrals based on urgency and availability. Screens patients for appropriate information and provides patient education as appropriate for diagnosis and treatment.
15% - Performs general clerical and administrative duties. Attend required in-services. Assist with data collection and management. Work alongside Data Assistant to capture patient data points. Provide in-person support to clinic operations at multiple MUSC locations in the Charleston market.
10% - Maintains and reviews patient records, charts and any other pertinent information, communicating as appropriate. Post test and exam results. Communicates plan of care to the patient including formal development of patient education materials as necessary.
10% - Maintain divisional RightFax for assigned programs and clinics. Proactively triage, process, and communicate daily faxes and messages incoming and outgoing on behalf of clinical providers. Serve as clinical liaison between clinical and administrative/managerial staff.
5% - Other duties as assigned.

One year of clinical experience in endocrinology required.
CDCES certification must be obtained with 1 year of hire date.
Knowledge of the techniques and practices of the nursing profession.
Knowledge of administrative methods and procedures.
Knowledge of medical and nursing terminology.
Ability to prepare educational and training materials for nursing care programs.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans.
Ability to instruct, supervise and direct the work of paraprofessional staff.
Ability to establish and maintain the confidence and cooperation of patients.
Ability to appropriately respond to emergency situations.
Additional Job Description
Minimum Requirements: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and two years of related nursing experience. Licensed as a registered nurse by the State Board of Nursing for South Carolina. Some positions require a valid driver’s license. Also, some positions require certification in Basic Life Support and/or Basic/Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
