Job Description Summary

The Medical University of South Carolina, Department of Neurosurgery, is seeking an experienced, innovative and dynamic Medical Director of a 27 bed Neurointensive Care Unit with continuous EEG capability. This is an exceptional opportunity to join our rapidly growing team of 4 Neurocritical Care physicians, 2 Neuro-Oncologists, and 15 Neurosurgeons in Charleston, South Carolina at a Level 1 Trauma Center and the only Comprehensive Stroke Center in the region. We staff a closed NSICU and patients are managed jointly between Neurosurgery and Neurocritical Care faculty. The department also has an active Neuro-critical Care fellowship Program with 24/7 dedicated advanced practice provider (APP) support.

Responsibilities will include resident and fellow education, leading the group of neurocritical care faculty and APPs, promoting academic productivity, innovation and involvement in clinical trials.

This position requires a BC/BE Neurologist or Neurosurgeon with fellowship training in Neurocritical Care. Candidates who have passed, or are eligible to take, the UCNS Subspecialty Certification in Neurocritical Care are preferred.

Academic rank will be commensurate with experience and training. The MUSC Medical Center is a high volume, tertiary referral center serving a large population where a broad range of common acute neurological conditions are encountered.
