Job Description
The Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina is growing rapidly and is seeking to add a new faculty member at the Assistant Professor level to our Adult Cardiac Surgery section.
The division is currently comprised of 15 active full time faculty members: 9 adult cardiac surgeons, 4 general thoracic surgeons and 2 Ph.D’s running an active research laboratory. Additionally 2 Emeritus Professors participate in teaching conferences and mentoring.
The ideal candidate will be board eligible/certified and have had comprehensive training and skills in the full spectrum of adult cardiovascular surgery. Interest and expertise in aortic surgery including endovascular procedures is preferred. In addition to playing a key role in the MUSC Heart & Vascular Center, the candidate will also actively participate in the cardiac surgery program at the Ralph H Johnson VA Medical Center.
Successful candidates will demonstrate promise in the tripartite mission of academic surgery: clinical care, teaching and research.
