Job Description Summary

The laboratory of Dr. Strickland in the Department of Neurosurgery and Cancer Biology & Immunology at MUSC is recruiting a motivated post-doctoral fellow in the field of central nervous system immuno-oncology. The Strickland lab focuses on targeting immunosuppressive tumor associated macrophage (TAM) as a means of anti-tumor therapy against glioblastoma. The major theme is translating methods of TAM depletion, or reprogramming towards an anti-inflammatory phenotype, into clinical trial in Dr. Strickland’s busy clinical practice. Dr. Strickland’s laboratory leverages syngeneic animal models with high-throughput transcriptomic approaches to elucidate the complex glioblastoma microenvironment and develop targeted therapies. Studies will generally range from single cell/nuclei and spatial transcriptomics/proteomics, functional cell-based assays, mouse models, and human in-vitro cell culture. In this position, you will have the opportunity to develop and lead projects focused on targeting macrophages in glioblastoma with an emphasis on developing a novel target for CAR-T delivery. You will also gain experience and training in transcriptomics/proteomics, pre-clinical study development. As such, the ability to work with mouse models of cancer is essential. A successful post-doctoral research fellow would be expected to conduct high quality research for publication in high impact journals. Fellows would also be encouraged to apply for independent postdoctoral grants. The Fellow would be joining a laboratory with an experienced research technician III.
