Research Assistant Professor
The Department of Public Health Sciences (DPHS) within the College of Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina invites applications for Assistant Professor of Biostatistics (research track). DPHS seeks a talented biostatistician who is passionate about building collaborations with basic, translational, and/or clinical scientists. The successful candidate will have a prior track record of collaborative activities and excellent written and oral communication skills.
Qualified applicants must hold a PhD in biostatistics, statistics or related field. In addition to teaching, the successful candidate is expected to mentor students and contribute to curriculum and program development. This faculty position offers a path for long-term career growth and promotion with significant opportunity for professional development.
DPHS is home to a talented and diverse faculty with appointments in a range of public health specialties including Biostatistics and Bioinformatics, Biomedical Informatics and Data Science, Social and Behavioral Sciences, Epidemiology, and Health Services Research. The department has two successful and long-standing masters and doctoral degree programs in biostatistics and epidemiology, and offers three MPH degrees in biostatistics, epidemiology, and health behavior and health promotion. The department also has a joint doctoral training program with Clemson University in Biomedical Data Science & Informatics.
Founded in 1824, the Medical University of South Carolina is the state’s largest medical complex, has the state’s only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center, and is the largest employer in the metropolitan Charleston area. MUSC ranks in the top quartile of domestic educational institutions in funding for research and is home to a Clinical and Translational Science Award.
