Job Description

Job Duties: 

  • 25% - Transports employees, students, and visitors to MUSC and areas within the assigned area of operations. Boards and discharges passengers with concern and consideration safely and efficiently. Monitor vehicle performance on the road and immediately isolate and remedy issues that are within the normal scope of a vehicle operator’s responsibility. - (Essential)

  • 25% - Maintains administrative and operational logs including, but not limited to, inspection forms, mileage logs, passenger counts, accident/incident reports, and regular updates on mandatory training requirements. - (Essential)

  • 25% - Communicates effectively with passengers and customers in a respectful way regarding transportation schedules and services. Maintains thorough work records while making timely reports of accidents, incidents, and unusual occurrences. - (Essential)

  • 20% - Responsible for fueling and cleaning of the vehicle; mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, and washing. Performs operator’s pre/post vehicle inspections and adds fluids as needed. Performed in all weather conditions consistent with safety. - (Essential)

  • 5% - Performs other duties as assigned including but not limited to substituting for other drivers, quick rides, of town travels (day trips). - (Essential)

Preferred Experience & Additional Skills: Must be able to safely operate all types of motor vehicles including cars, trucks vans, and small buses. Must be able to perform cleaning/maintenance duties in all weather conditions and lift and move heavy objects such as mop/bucket, vacuum cleaner, etc. Requires sitting 80% of the time. Must be able to climb stairs, communicate effectively and work efficiently under stress. Must have current, valid SC Driver's License and a certified copy of a ten-year driven-year from DMV.

Minimum Requirements: A high school diploma and one year experience in truck driving, operating a crane or operating a motor vehicle.
