A Statistician II is needed for proteomic biomarker studies. Studies will require statistical modeling, parameter inference, development of novel mathematical models with validation, statistical evaluation of image data including alignment with multiple modalities.

Job Description

Duties Performed:

25% Development of machine learning modeling approaches for spatially derived data. Individual will be able to coordinate with multiple clinicians for goals of spatial evaluation of proteomic signatures. Individual will be able to create algorithms for image alignment to be implemented in pipelines.

25% Data analysis. Individual will collaborate with multiple labs for image data processing and data modeling by simulators. Individual be familiar with verification and validation procedures to ensure appropriate modeling.

10% Individual will use a variety of programs such as Excel, GraphPad, ImageJ and SPSS, python and R to report data. Individual will also learn and be able to communicate new proteomic software for peptide clustering and proteomic reporting.

10% Writing with principal investigator for grant applications and manuscripts.

10% Training students or visiting scholars in laboratory workflows surrounding proteomic pipelines.

10% Maintain laboratory equipment. Individual will include creating data pipelines for system suitability tests on equipment used in each part of the study and record findings, troubleshooting when necessary.

10% Keeping the lab safe, clean and compliant by following PPE and MUSC guidelines for safety in the laboratory.

MUSC Minimum Training and Experience Requirements:

A bachelor's degree with statistical courses and two years experience in statistics.

Preferred Qualifications: A bachelor's degree in mathematics, data science or chemistry

Additional Knowledge, Skill and Ability Experience in one or more of the following desired: machine learning models, image alignment, data processing pipelines, validation, automation

Additional Knowledge, Skill and Ability Preferred: The ideal candidate will have a college degree in mathematics, and chemistry.
