Responsibilities include tracking hardware use for the department (including oversight of routine upgrades and backup/floater pool and process), coordinating software procurement and renewals, serving as admin for Salesforce instance and AHEC’s Microsoft 365 licenses, supporting and troubleshooting staff technology issues, and other IT coordination as needed. Must have a broad understanding of a variety of information technology including diverse types of software, services, and operating systems, preferably in an academic health system setting; be able to work collaboratively with users from a wide variety of backgrounds and IT understanding; and operate with a focus on prioritizing departmental goals and user needs. Note: In accordance with state HR telecommuting policies, this position is required to report to the office 5 days a week but may become eligible for hybrid telework status after 12 months of employment. Candidates must reside within commuting distance of our Charleston, SC office.
About Us:
The South Carolina Area Health Education Consortium (AHEC) is a state agency that connects students and professionals with the tools, training and resources necessary to develop an effective healthcare workforce, with a focus on primary care in rural and underserved communities. While the SC AHEC Program Office is administratively housed at MUSC, it is a separate state agency with its own state line-item budget and some independent state reporting requirements. Job Duties:
30% Salesforce Admin
Serve as admin for AHEC’s Salesforce instance including configuring and maintaining Salesforce features, customizing dashboards and reports for various program teams, managing roles and permissions, distributing user accounts, and managing licenses. Ensure that Salesforce stays up-to-date with new releases, oversee sandboxes and testing for new updates, coordinate with Salesforce consultants assisting with project builds. Support program office and regional AHEC center staff in use of Salesforce.
20% AHEC Technology Policy and Processes
Coordinate AHEC departmental policy and process compliance for MUSC Information Solutions (IS) including liaison to MUSC IS for AHEC and communicate relevant updates and statuses to AHEC staff; attend monthly MUSC Information Technology Consultant (ITC) meetings; meet IS requirements for technology including maintaining Service Interruption Plans; submitting and coordinating security assessments as needed; and spearheading the procurement of technology, software, services and other assets.
15% Technology Hardware Tracking
Responsible for coordinating AHEC departmental hardware and software processes and procedures. This includes serving as point of contact for AHEC staff purchasing hardware and advising hiring managers purchasing for new staff, arranging for imaging and wiping of computers, managing the department's technology hardware and maintaining standby machines, ensuring a routine hardware upgrade process is implemented consistently across staff, coordinating the distribution and renewal of software licenses.
15% Support for AHEC Staff
Serve as internal technology support to AHEC staff for local issues including mapping network drives, mapping network printers, coordinating software installations with IS, and other support as needed.
10% Microsoft 365 Admin
Maintain AHEC’s Microsoft 365 licenses and serve as admin: ensuring security measures are in place, assisting account users as needed, allocating licenses, and ensuring timely renewals of licenses.
10% Development Process Support
Provides support to AHEC developers and development processes, including creating documentation, conducting scoping and requirements collection and other tasks as needed. Communicates with AHEC users routinely to provide development status updates.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
Five years experience in an information technology (IT) role, preferably in an academic and/or healthcare setting. Experience with Salesforce preferred.
MUSC Minimum Training and Experience Requirements:
A high school diploma and three years experience in computer system development and modification. A bachelor's degree in a related area may be substituted for the required work experience
