Job Description Summary

This position is an as-needed, non-tenure track faculty role within the MSN/DNP program. The primary responsibility is to educate and support students progressing through the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree. The faculty member will deliver graduate-level instruction in Advanced Clinical Assessment and Diagnostic Reasoning (ACAR) across the lifespan, providing expert guidance, evaluation, and facilitation throughout the learning process.

Job Description

Minimum Training and Education:           

Master’s in Nursing required. Candidates should be eligible for APRN licensure by the State of South Carolina and hold national certification as a nurse practitioner. Current BLS certification is required.

Preferred Experience:

A DNP or PhD in Nursing is preferred. Experience in graduate online teaching methods is preferred, but a motivated candidate without teaching experience who meets the educational and professional requirements will be considered. A familiarity with or interest in case-based or problem-based teaching is ideal. Experience in pediatrics as a nurse practitioner is preferred.

Responsibilities include:

• Delivering course content using self-directed study, system-based modules, simulations, lectures, and discussions.

• Monitoring student participation and engagement in both online and in-person settings.

• Grading and providing feedback on quizzes, Shadow Health assignments, system-specific physical exam videos, reflections, and additional module assignments according to provided rubrics and timelines.

• Tracking student progress, ensuring timely submission of assignments, and enforcing late policies as outlined in the syllabus.

• Supporting students through regular communication, virtual office hours, and prompt email responses (within 24–48 hours).

• Upholding academic integrity, professionalism, and inclusivity in accordance with MUSC College of Nursing policies.
