Job Description Summary

The Talent Acquisition Specialist reports to the Talent Acquisition Manager. This role is responsible for coordinating the onboarding process of new hires and nonpaid individuals. The Talent Acquisition Specialist serves as the customer service contact for the Human Resources department.

Job Description

30% - Coordinate the onboarding process for non-paid individuals (volunteers, contracted staff, visiting students/scholars, etc.). This includes scheduling health screenings, reviewing background checks, processing student groups, and visiting residents as well as others as needed.

 

30% - Provide assistance with the onboarding process for new hires, as well as New Employee Orientation. Ensure seamless and positive experience from offer acceptance through the first day of employment. Serve as the primary point of contact for new employees, providing guidance and support throughout the pre-employment and onboarding phases. Develop and improve onboarding procedures, checklists, and communication templates to enhance the overall efficiency and employee experience.

 

20% - Provide support to hiring managers regarding onboarding best practices and expectations for integrating new team members. Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements throughout the onboarding process.

 

20% - Participate in outreach and recruitment initiatives that align with the mission of Human Resources Management (HRM). Identify and engage with community organizations, professional groups, and events that offer access to qualified and diverse candidate pools. Represent MUSC at targeted meetings, job fairs, and networking events to promote employment opportunities and strengthen the institution’s recruitment pipeline.

 

Preferred Experience & Additional Skills: Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and be able to function within a large, fast-paced environment comprised of a wide range of visitors, students, faculty and employees, both internally and externally. Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, with a diverse multi-cultural client base, and deal discreetly with large amounts of sensitive, confidential information. Incumbent must be a self-motivated individual who is able to work effectively and efficiently, in an environment with frequently changing priorities.

Minimum Requirements: A high school diploma and two years clerical or administrative experience in a human resources setting. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required work experience.
