Job Description
Location:
This position will primarily work on-site in Downtown Charleston
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelors Degree or equivalent and at least 3 years of related professional experience, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Digital, Advertising & Print Design – 50%
Concept and execute visually compelling design solutions across a wide range of formats, including websites, presentations, digital ads, social media graphics, email templates, brochures, signage, large-format displays, and promotional materials
Design high-impact assets for multi-channel, integrated campaigns that engage target audiences and align with campaign objectives, ensuring visual hierarchy, typography, and composition enhance and elevate copy
Apply web, UI/UX, and accessibility best practices to digital design, producing ADA-compliant experiences that support readability, contrast, responsive behavior, and cross-platform consistency
Prepare and optimize digital assets for web performance, including scalable graphics, compressed imagery, and responsive image formats
Perform image retouching, photo manipulation, and custom illustration as needed to support creative production
Brand & Identity – 25%
Create visual concepts that elevate and reinforce brand identity consistently across all platforms and touchpoints, adhering to established guidelines for color, typography, imagery, and tone
Contribute to the evolution of brand assets, templates, style guides, and reusable design systems to support a cohesive visual language across the organization
Develop wireframes and prototypes to guide user-centered design decisions and support developer collaboration on technically feasible, front-end-aligned solutions
Print Production – 5%
Prepare accurate, production-ready files for print and digital delivery with proper color calibration across CMYK, Pantone, RGB, and web HEX color systems
Partners with print vendors to package production files, conduct preflight checks, and perform color matching and QA to resolve issues prior to production
Project Management – 20%
Manage multiple design projects simultaneously from concept through final delivery, meeting deadlines without sacrificing quality
Collaborate closely with donor relations, stewardship, annual giving, events and marketing teams, copywriters, and key stakeholders to translate creative briefs into effective visual solutions, communicating proactively on project status, timelines, and creative direction
Stay current with emerging design trends, tools, and best practices to continuously bring fresh ideas to the team
Minimum and/or Preferred Qualifications
At least 3 years of professional graphic design experience with demonstrated work across print and digital platforms
Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign
Strong understanding of print and digital production standards, including color systems (CMYK, Pantone, RGB), file preparation, and vendor coordination
Experience designing multi-channel integrated marketing campaigns
Proficiency using wireframe tools such as Figma
Exceptional eye for layout, typography, color, and visual composition
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Portfolio required demonstrating range and quality across digital and print work
Experience with presentation design (PowerPoint, Google Slides, or similar)
Knowledge of digital advertising specs and platform requirements (Meta, Google, LinkedIn, etc.)
Experience working within established brand guidelines in a corporate or agency environment

Physical Requirements:
Continuous requirements are to work indoors; possess good finger dexterity; maintain tactile sensory functions; maintain 20/40 vision corrected in one eye or with both eyes; maintain good peripheral vision capabilities; and maintain hearing acuity with correction.
Frequent requirements are to perform job functions while standing/upright, sitting, and walking/mobile; fully use both hands and arms; perform repetitive motions with hands, wrists, elbows, and shoulders; perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements; reach in all directions; see and recognize objects close at hand and at a distance; match or discriminate between colors; determine distance and relationship between objects including depth perception; and hear and/or understand whispered conversations at a distance of 3 feet.
Infrequent requirements are to work outdoors in all weather and temperature extremes; work in confined/cramped spaces and dusty areas; kneel and squat to perform job functions; perform pinching operations; lift and carry 15 lbs. unassisted; lift objects up to 15 lbs. from floor level to a height of 36 inches unassisted; and push or pull objects up to 15 lbs. unassisted.
