MUSC is truly an institution that provides quality and safety of care, and I am proud to say that. However, just like any other healthcare facility, we have challenges related to staffing, retention, and bridging the gap between leadership and the frontline care team members. Overall, MUSC strives to be a diverse place where people work as a team to provide the care that they would want for any of their family members to receive. For me, a great unit is only as good as its 'weakest' member, so I want to build up a team and highlight those that are going above and beyond. A place where if you make a mistake, you are not afraid to report it so we can learn as a team to prevent harm in future situations. A culture where everyone works as a team and helps each other. Where no one feels they are alone. For the most part we have a healthy culture that displays many of those positive aspects, but we as leaders are striving to be better to create and foster that environment.

The culture at MUSC Health is supportive. The leaders make it a very safe environment to learn and grow, which has made all the difference in my career trajectory!
