Job Description

Primary Responsibilities

Patient Scheduling & Communication

•              Contact patients requiring diagnostic mammography, ultrasound, or breast MRI to schedule appointments.

•              Reach out to patients scheduled for breast biopsies to provide instructions, answer questions, and prepare them for their procedure.

Patient Support & Procedure Coordination

•              Meet patients upon arrival for their biopsy to offer support, ensure understanding of the process, and serve as a consistent point of contact.

Clinical Documentation & Follow‑Up

•              Review pathology results and document findings for radiologist review.

•              Conduct follow‑up calls with patients after biopsy procedures to assess recovery, address concerns, and provide next steps.

•              Maintain and track all follow‑up needs to ensure continuity of care.

Care Navigation & Referral Coordination

•              Guide patients to appropriate next steps based on results, including High‑Risk Clinic referrals (TC Score), surgical consultations, and oncology services.

•              Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely and efficient care transitions.

 

Qualifications

•              Experience in a clinical or patient‑facing healthcare role preferred.

•              Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

•              Ability to manage sensitive information with professionalism and confidentiality.

•              Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

•              Comfort working in a fast‑paced clinical environment.

 

Requirements:

 

Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing and a minimum of three years related clinical nursing experience required; oncology nursing experience preferred. Master of Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in lieu of BSN. In addition, the applicant must have considerable knowledge of complex medical terminology and advanced disease processes, strong interpersonal skills, ability to delegate to appropriate personnel, ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships both internally and externally, strong organizational skills, ability to rapidly prioritize/reprioritize, strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to work autonomously and in teams, critical-thinking skills, and ability to multi-task.  Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
