Job Title: Clinical Education Internship – MUSC Health Midlands

Department: Education Department
Duration: June 15- August 7, 2026
Schedule: Tuesday- Thursday 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM (max 15 hours/week)

Internship Overview
The Clinical Education Internship provides students with an opportunity to gain hands-on experience within a healthcare education environment. Interns will work alongside Nursing Professional Development and Clinical Education teams to support staff education initiatives, orientation programs, competency events, and professional development activities. This experience offers valuable exposure to healthcare operations, workforce development, and clinical education processes within a hospital setting.

·         Attention to detail and organizational skills

·         Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

·         Adaptability and comfort working in a fast-paced healthcare environment

·         Professionalism, integrity, and an understanding of confidentiality and HIPAA requirements

Potential Responsibilities and Learning Opportunities
Interns may have the opportunity to:

·         Assist with the preparation and organization of nursing orientation materials and packets

·         Support the coordination, setup, and execution of orientation sessions and training classes

·         Participate in skills fairs and competency events through event setup, registration, material distribution, and logistical support

·         Assist nurse educators with rounding activities by preparing materials and observing educational workflows

·         Help maintain, organize, and inventory education supplies, equipment, and storage areas

·         Observe clinical education processes to gain insight into staff development, competency validation, and patient safety initiatives

·         Provide administrative support, including copying, printing, assembling educational materials, and data entry

·         Attend meetings and educational sessions when appropriate to gain a broader understanding of healthcare education and workforce development

By the end of the internship, students will have a greater understanding of:

·         Clinical education and staff development within a healthcare system

·         Hospital onboarding and orientation processes

·         Healthcare workforce development initiatives

·         Event planning and coordination within a clinical setting

·         Professional communication and collaboration in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment

·         The role education plays in supporting patient safety and quality outcomes
