Job Description

The Coding Audit and Education Manager oversees enterprise-wide coding audit and education programs for the MUSC Enterprise including the management of the Coding Auditors and Coding Educators.  This role ensures compliance with regulatory standards, optimizes coding accuracy, and drives continuous education for coding professionals and providers. The manager serves as a strategic leader, collaborating with revenue cycle, compliance, and clinical documentation teams to maintain high-quality coding and documentation practices.

  • Bachelor's degree in HIM/ Healthcare Administration OR Equivalent Work Experience: 7 years progressive work experience in Coding and 2 years auditing and education experience in a coding or compliance department.

  • Expertise in ICD-10 CM/PCS, HCPCS, and CPT-4 coding systems.

  • Proven experience in developing and delivering educational programs in a healthcare setting.

  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and other third-party payer regulations related to coding guidelines.

  • Proficiency with coding and auditing software and EMR systems.

  • RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC – at least one of these credentials required

  • CPMA and/or CHC preferred
