Job Description Summary

First-level management typically oversees one or more areas within a department and is responsible for supervising at least two professional or support staff. Their primary focus is on managing the day-to-day activities and performance of individual employees. While they usually do not have the authority to hire, fire, or promote staff directly, their input in these decisions is highly valued. In addition to personnel management, they may also coordinate various business aspects of the department, such as strategic planning, project management, budgeting, and financial operations.
