Job Description Summary
The IONM Quality and Education Specialist will report to the IONM Senior Manager. In collaboration with the Senior Manager, the IONM Quality and Education Specialist is responsible for clinical practice in the IONM Department and development/oversight of IONM quality and education protocols along with development, expansion and standardization of IONM services throughout MUSC Health System. The IONM Quality and Education Specialist exhibits current clinical knowledge and expertise for designated patient populations and is accountable for continued competence in neurodiagnostic practice and clinical outcomes in accordance with current evidence–based practice guidelines. This position assists in developing quality care initiatives to improve patient outcomes and patient safety, development of new procedure protocols for expansion of IOM services, maintaining a policy and procedure manual, development of educational opportunities for technologists IONM Specialists and development and initiation of processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness of IONM services. This role recognizes practice opportunities throughout the MUSC Health System and works with the intraprofessional team to help remove barriers and begin to enhance evidence-based practice standards.Entity

Job Description
Education: A bachelor’s degree or graduation from a CAAHEP accredited program of neurodiagnostic technology or the equivalent required.
Experience: A minimum of five years of consecutive CNIM work experience required. Demonstrated experience in teaching in Neurological, Orthopedic, Vascular, Cardiac, ENT, Neuroanatomy including cranial procedures and complex spinal procedures. Must have advanced knowledge in EEG, EMG, CMAP/NAP, TcMEP, Cortical Mapping, Waveform artifact and troubleshooting, Various Anesthetics – Volatile Agents, Narcotics, Benzodiazepines and their effects on monitoring.
Certification/Licensure: Certification in Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring (CNIM) required. In lieu of a bachelor’s degree an additional registry in one or more of the following neurodiagnostic credentials by ABRET is also required (R.EEG T., R. EP T. CLTM, R NCS T. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
