The Medical University of South Carolina Department Orthopaedics and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is hiring for a full-time LPN to work one-on-one with physicians in our Pediatric Orthopaedic clinical practice to provide quality care to our patients. The LPN will operate as the physician extender for the physician’s clinical practice. The LPN will be responsible for travelling to different MUSC ambulatory clinics to support the pediatric orthopaedic division. Additionally, the LPN provides limited administrative support to the attending physicians as deemed appropriate. All practice is performed under the supervision of a licensed MUSC attending physician.Entity

Scheduled Weekly Hours: Monday-Friday, day shift, 40 hours
Education and Work Experience
High School diploma or equivalent. Graduate from an accredited Practical Nurse program. Current South Carolina LPN license with one year of experience in related area of practice.
Works under the direction of a physician(s) and clinical management.
Licensures, Registrations, Certifications
Current South Carolina LPN License or compact state license and BLS required.
Physical Requirements
Continuous requirements are to perform job functions while standing, walking, and sitting. Ability to bend at the waist, kneel, climb stairs, reach in all directions, fully use both hands and legs, possess good finger dexterity, perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders, reach in all directions. Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use, initially and as required. Maintain 20/40 vision corrected, see, and recognize objects close at hand and at a distance, work in a latex safe environment and work indoors.
Frequently lift, lower, push and pull and/or carry objects weighing 50 lbs. (+/-) unassisted, exert up to 50 lbs. of force, lift from 36" to overhead 25 lbs. Infrequently work in dusty areas and confined/cramped spaces.
Job Responsibilities
Responsible for providing patient and family centered care under the direction of a physician or licensed healthcare provider in a clinical practice. Uses critical thinking in clinical problem-solving relative to the scope of practice, knowledge, competency, and experience. Assists medical staff with preparation, examination, and procedures to include interviewing/screening patients to obtain personal data and chief complaint, documentation for records, and vital signs.
Performs telephone and in-person screenings. Participates in recording and reporting responsibilities; documents findings relevant to patients’ health care status or plan of care, documents accurately and consistently in accordance with approved policies/procedures.
Prioritizes and documents patient incoming phone calls, as assigned, regarding medications, medical conditions, and reviews with provider as needed for orders or changes.
Perform Clerical and administrative duties as necessary: Complete office forms for patients (i.e., disability forms, FMLA forms). Attend in-services and meetings, participates in committees as requested. Assist physician in scheduling appointments and referrals based on urgency and availability.
