Job Description Summary

Under general supervision of the department manager, the Certified SPD supervisor coordinates and manages the daily activities and operational needs of the department. This position assists the Manager with the overall direction, leadership, and supervision of the staff. This role performs instrument production, case assembly, sterile processing, decontamination of surgical instruments in compliance with medical center policies and procedures, state, local and federal requirements. This position serves as SPD liaison with other departments. The Certified SPD Supervisor monitors and participates in quality initiatives and assists with accomplishing organizational and department goals/objectives. Supervisors may have supervisory responsibilities at Main, Rutledge Tower, and/or ART Sterile Processing Departments.

Job Description

Additional Job Description

Graduate of high school or GED equivalency examination and must be certified and maintain a certification in sterile processing from HSPA (Healthcare Sterile Processing Association) or CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution) and have at least three (3) years of experience in sterile processing and/or leadership role.  Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS) and/or Certified Healthcare Leader (CHL) certification preferred.
