Job Description:

The Communications Coordinator is a mid-level position that will provide advanced communications and special event support for the department of Neurology. This will require coordinating with institutional stakeholders including the Office of Communications & Marketing, COM Dean’s Office, associated ICCE, information solutions, communications, digital web services, and printing services.

Job Duties:

30% - Oversee and manage the complex administration and implementation for Neurology publications, including a monthly newsletter, and Annual Report, serving as senior editor. Editor will also create, obtain, and write/edit content for Newsletters and Annual Report. Serve as direct liaison with MUSC Communications & Marketing to design departmental templates, brochures, etc. Perform graphic design when needed for content creation. Coordinate and manage the distribution of departmental literature via print in mail and digital in email/ other digital methods.

25% - Provide overall communications and content support for the department of Neurology. This will require coordinating with institutional stakeholders including the Office of Communications & Marketing, COM Dean's Office, associated ICCE, information solutions, digital web services, and printing services. Content related responsibilities include:

o Maintain, create and manage departmental digital screens with frequent and appropriate updates.

o Maintain, create and manage Departmental social media, including intake of requests

o Manage ongoing enhancement and maintenance of the departmental website, to include content creation of new Neurology programs

o Serving as the Department Graphic Designer and photographer

o Maintains active database of Neurology Alumni and key stakeholders and contacts.

25% - Plan, promote, and execute major departmental annual events. This includes events such as the Annual Department Party, Annual ART Expo, AAN Alumni Reunion, all major Resident and Fellow Education annual events to include graduations, Resident/Fellow Research Day, Welcome Events, other education events approved as major by the Chair’s office, various other community based Department Educational and Research Events. Duties will include onsite coordination and photography at events. Coordinator will liaison with Department Finance office to ensure MUSC Health and State Procurement by-laws and contract timelines are met. Coordinator will also serve as primary backup for Department Grand Rounds Coordination.

15% Provide advanced administrative support for Communications related responsibilities to include:

o Coordinate, manage, and create content communications, and email communications, as needed and prioritized by department

o Coordinate and oversee communications relating to provider onboarding tasks, including updating academic and clinical online profiles and implementing website updates.

o Coordinate and oversee community/market interaction/ communication of clinical services and academic opportunities for Neurology to improve referral streams and reputation scores.

5% - Coordinate special projects and performs additional assignments as needed at the request of the Department Administrator and Department Chair to complement the communications efforts for the Department of Neurology.

Minimum Requirements: A high school diploma and five years relevant experience in business management, public administration or administrative services; or a bachelor's degree and three years experience in business management, public administration or administrative services.
