Job Description Summary

The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is seeking a dedicated Sleep Research Laboratory Night Monitor to support ongoing clinical research on the effects of opioid pain medications on pain, quality of life, sleep, and breathing. This position is based at MUSC’s downtown campus and involves working directly with research participants in an overnight laboratory setting.

Job Description

FLSA: Hourly

Work Schedule: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, 7:00 pm - 7:00 am

Job Duties:

• Welcome and orient research participants to the sleep laboratory at the start of each evening session. [5%]

• Set up, maintain, and monitor continuous recording equipment, including devices tracking oxygenation and breathing. Maintain a clean, organized, and professional laboratory environment.  [15%]

• Observe and ensure participant comfort and safety throughout the night. [35%]

• Following established safety and emergency procedures and promptly escalate concerns to in-house or on-call medical clinicians as needed. [35%]

• Document study observations, equipment outputs, and relevant participant information according to research protocols. [10%]

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior research or healthcare experience, especially in clinical or laboratory settings.

• Familiarity with medical monitoring equipment.

Minimum Requirements: A high school diploma and three years of relevant program experience. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required program experience.
